Philip Lutzenkirchen’s story is one of promise, of talent, of a life filled with faith, family, and leadership. But in 2014, that story was cut tragically short by an impaired driving crash. The Lutzie 43 Foundation was created in his memory, with a singular goal: to end distracted, impaired, and unsafe driving.

Every year, 10,000 lives are lost to drunk driving crashes. Nine people die every day from distracted driving. These are not just numbers; they are sons, daughters, parents, and friends—lives that could have been saved with a simple pause, a moment of mindfulness before getting behind the wheel. The Lutzie 43 Foundation’s 43 Key Seconds initiative is that pause, a tangible reminder to take 43 seconds before driving to ensure a safe journey.
